NEW LOOK. Easy. Effortless. Elegant. These tough, own root, disease resistant roses are the time-tested offspring of modern shrub roses crossed with varieties selected for their elegant flowers and reliable rebloom. The result is an outstanding collection of cold hardy, durable roses in a full array of key colors. With Easy Elegance, your customers can enjoy the elegant beauty of roses without daunting chemical sprays or complicated winter protection. The Easy Elegance Story Since we started breeding roses in 1991, we have had a singular focus: deliver the best varieties in the shrub rose category. The result has been a successful line of cold hardy, diseases resistant shrub roses with classically beautiful flowers that bloom repeatedly through the season. For over 20 years, breeders made 35,000 crosses anually, constantly evaluating the resulting seedlings in Oregon, MInnesota and Arizona. Selection criteria continues to be based on robust garden performance without the use of chemicals, repeat bloom, cold hardiness, handsome foliage and flower impact. Only the best survive the rigorous process, ensuring only the strongest varieties make it into the Easy Elegance brand. We have grown Paint the Town, Yellow Submarine, Coral Cove, Kashmir, Como Park and Sunrise Sunset. We typically bring in a #1 bareroot grade in April and shift to a #2 gallon container. Disease resistance, excellent reblooming and overall hardiness found in the Easy Elegance Roses allow us to grow a premium shrub rose for our customers. The quality in breeding as well as the large selection is another top selling point. My personal favorite is Paint the Town. Our customers were consistently requesting a dwarf, deep red shrub rose. We knew it was going to be popular the minute we saw it. Conrad Gilbertson - General Manager Heritage Nursery West Production Love, love, love Easy Elegance. EasyEleganceRoses.com 13 Consumer Success Where to plant The biggest key to success with Easy Elegance is planting them in a location that gets 6-8 hours of sun per day. More light is fine, but fewer hours of sunlight means less flowers. Own root All Easy Elegance roses are grown naturally on their own root system. Compared to budded or grafted roses, own root roses are more cold tolerant. If an unusually harsh winter causes the canes to be injured or die back, Easy Elegance roses push out new growth from the crown and are true to name. Budded Root Own Root Pruning Young plants under three years old don t normally need to be pruned. Older plants benefit from pruning in early spring. Prune Easy Elegance about the time forsythia push out their bright yellow flowers. Cut dead canes back to live tissue to revitalize the plant. Their big underground root system will quickly push out new growth and you ll have robust beautiful plants blooming in June. Fertilizing Easy Elegance roses are easy-care shrubs, but like any plant do better with the proper nutrition. This is especially true if you have sandy soil which doesn t retain nutrients, or soil that is low in organic matter. One application of fertilizer per season, as the buds appear in spring, is usually enough. 14 16 EasyEleganceRoses.com
