  • 1. Inside today’s world safety is the most required attribute for a hazard. For a hazard to be prevented, safety is the important concept. And it is only the major worry that looms around everyone. Health worries are the major factor in today’s world. And the hazards associated with it are called as the health hazards. So, WHAT is health??? Health is a state of good physical condition, well being and being free from illness or disease. If someone has all these features, he is said to be healthy. and WHAT is hazard??? Hazard is a risk or a danger of happening something. There is a chance or probability that it will partially or completely damage the system.
  • 2. Classification Of Hazards  Classification of Hazards into 2 types: Physical and Health. Physical Hazards are the hazards based on the property that an object bears owing to its existence. Health Hazards are the disease causing or the hazards deteriorating the health of a person. Classification of Health Hazards as:  Acute toxicity  Skin corrosion/irritation  Serious eye damage/eye irritation  Respiratory or skin sensitization  Germ cell mutagenicity  Carcinogenicity  Reproductive toxicity  Specific target organ toxicity – single exposure  Specific target organ toxicity – repeated exposure  Aspiration hazard  Biohazardous infectious materials

Environmental Health Health of the complete environment is important.As it comprises of the human beings,plants, animals and the most important is the nature around us.Environmental Health consists of the factors that can harm human health and how to identify, prevent and control such effects.CDC(Centre for Disease Control and Prevention)’s National Centre for Environmental Health(NCEH) monitors, directs and plans for a program for improving the health of the american people. The Healthy People 2020 Environmental Health primarily focusses on 6 themes :  Outdoor Air Quality  Surface and Ground Water Quality  Toxic substances and hazardous wastes  Homes and Communities  Infrastructure and Surveillance  Global Environmental Health A few diseases associated with environmental health are:  Asthma  Autism  Breast Cancer  Cancer  Lung Disease  Lupus  Obesity  Parkinson’s Disease  Reproductive Health  These diseases have been given by the NIH(National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences)

Environmental Pollution Environmental Pollution as we know today, is what that existed for centuries, but became prominent and significant only following the industrial revolution in 19th century.It is it that brought introduction of oil and its usage through various processes. Environmental Pollution occurs when nature does not know how to decompose some substances and they remain in our environment. Such pollution is called Environmental Pollution. Environmental Pollution occurs both in the developed and the developing nations across the countries. Based on its types: The Environmental Pollution is classified as –  Air Pollution  Water Pollution  Land Pollution There can be several effects of the dying environment on humans, animals and the plants. Cholorofluoro Carbons (CFCs) released from using AC’s, refrigrators, deodrants also cause environmental pollution as they deplete the ozone layer. The ozone layer protects us from the harmful radiations from the sun that are ultraviolet radiations , thus preventing environmental pollution. So it can be seen here that environmental pollution is a global issue and that needs to be tackled wisely. Proper awareness and education is lacking in several regions especially in the developing nations where the problems are rising day by day. But the developed nations are also not far behind as their eminssions are greater and their share is more as far as the harm to the
