Introduction Changes are inevitable in everyone’s life. There are number of trends which are developing day by day which ultimately replaces the traditional methods of teaching any language. English, as an international language, plays a very important role in 21 st  Century. It serves as an ideal requirement for career advancement. It connects the  people all over the world in one or the other means. Teaching English needs a constant change in the teaching methodologies as it is upgraded by new technologies every passing day. It has become an urgent need to make a change in the teaching strategies with the changing times. Thus, new and innovative techniques play a major role in teaching English in the present era. This research paper attempts to explain some new and innovative techniques which will be practically helpful for English language teaching. 2. Present Scenario of teaching English Language There are mass number of people belonging from the regional background and have a wish to excel themselves the most in English language. The students have good grammatical skills but somewhere fails to communicate themselves in front of a large crowd. Various reasons may be stand out for this negligence. The teachers are used to black boards and white boards which have become very common these days for teaching English. There are ineffective methodologies, unsuitable materials, contextualized teaching and focus on multi language skills which leads to the downfall of a students’ performance. They focus more on grammar translation method of teaching. At times, there are no facilities available to the teachers where they cannot give their best to teach English in the classrooms. On the contrary, the students are also faded off with the traditional methods of teaching. They ultimately can get good marks in the examination by mugging up and study it without their understanding as well as interest. The students are burdened with reading heavy textbooks and assignments which results in scoring good marks in hard copies only. Somewhere they lack in gaining the practical knowledge where they can communicate in front of people.  ELT VIBES: International E-Journal For Research in ELT Volume 3, Number 3. 1-6. (2017) ISSN: 2395-0595   Sneha S. Patel & Dr. Hetal J. Mehta | www.eltvibes.in   3 The ongoing trend going on in India at times is weak both at quality as well as quantity. The teachers thrive hard to choose the best technology out of various available options to teach English and it needs a tremendous change. 3. New innovative techniques Teaching English needs a tremendous change in the teaching methodology. It should  be worked out in such a way that the learners find it interesting to study and get some  practical knowledge out of this. Here, the researcher discusses some new and innovative techniques which will replace the traditional method of teaching and helps to make the classrooms learner friendly. I.   Teaching through story telling: Storytelling is one of the best learning tools. Across and within disciplines, educators are using storytelling to stimulate students’ critical thinking skills, encourage self  -review and convey practice realities. Stories are everywhere. Stories can give a sense of reading, writing, hearing and telling them at some places. These are also used for varied purposes like entertainment, connecting people and make sense of the people around us. Further, it helps to communicate one’s experiences and others too. Thus, storytelling helps to improve one’s imagination, increase one’s memory and visualization skills and makes it a powerful learning tool.It makes the classrooms learner friendly and the students come out with their own views and try to learn with its own imagination and thinking. Thus, they will inculcate this to learn English. II.   Web based learning: Web based learning has very fast replaced the traditional method of teaching wherein it includes blogs, skype, mobile phones, computers, ipods, email writing to name a few. These helps to improve listening, speaking, reading, as well as writing skills directly or indirectly. It can also be called as technology based learning. Email helps to connect the students with their teachers and vice versa at their convenience. Blogs also helps to improve their writing skills and can get the views of the readers about the quality of the work. Skype enables them to talk with their friends where they can improve their pronunciation skills.  ELT VIBES: International E-Journal For Research in ELT Volume 3, Number 3. 1-6. (2017) ISSN: 2395-0595   Sneha S. Patel & Dr. Hetal J. Mehta | www.eltvibes.in   4 Mobile phones are easily accessible if the students have internet facilities where they can surf for any doubts or queries. IPods also gives a chance to improve their listening, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and also writing to the English learners. III.   Task based language teaching: The learners acquire the language very actively in task based language teaching. The learners are taught in ways that make clear the relationships between grammatical form, communicative function, and semantic meaning. The learners focus on learning  process as well as language content. The tasks are clearly defined in task based language teaching and instructions and criteria for success are clearly specified to make the communication genuine. Language is used to fill in real information or meaning gaps. Learners use own resources and the content they access through language (as they listen, view, read, discuss, interview) to do things that are meaningful (i.e., to complete tasks: solve a problem, design a poster, write a report, complete a form, teach a client, convince a classmate, prioritize a list, make a decision, etc.).More focus is given on form and strategies and skills which are contextualized within a task. Skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) are integrated as they are in real life (i.e., learners will likely need to make use of more than one skill to accomplish a task). Learners get a chance to self-correct and give each other feedback; receive formative feedback a nd have the opportunity to “try it again.”   IV.   Game based language Teaching: Language can be learnt easily through language games. It makes the classroom teaching more effective and learner-friendly. At the same time, it also motivates them to fit into the classroom environment. It makes students involve in the language games so that they can produce fruitful results. This can be classified as the necessary method as the students are bored with the traditional method of teaching hereby connecting the whole learning process to real life experiences. It can be a fun method of teaching English. Thus, it proves to be an enjoyable experience for both the teachers and students.
